DERYA KIRAÇ SABZEHZAR
In 1999, Derya Kirac Sabzehzar began studying cello with Associate Professor Melih KARA at the State Conservatory of Anadolu University. In 2007, she won the “Young Soloists” competition organized by the conservatory and performed Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Op.33 – Cello Concerto No.1” with the Anadolu University Symphony Orchestra. She completed her undergraduate degree at the State Conservatory of Anadolu University in the 2009-2010 academic year. In 2008 and 2010, she participated in concerts with the National Youth Symphony Orchestra (UGSO) under the direction of conductor Cem MANSUR, both in Turkey and abroad.
From 2008 to 2013, she performed as a member of cello groups in concerts with the Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra’Sion, Marmaris Chamber Orchestra, and Antalya Symphony Orchestra. During her education, she had the opportunity to work on solo cello, chamber music, and orchestral music with Sinan DIZMEN, Cag ERCAG, Carol OU, Elinor FREY, and Amedeo CICCHESE. In 2019, she performed with the Pan-Caucasian Youth Orchestra (PCYO) at the Tsinandali Festival under the direction of conductors Gianandrea NOSEDA, Jukka-Pekka SARASTE, Lahav SHANI, and Claudio VANDELLI. With the same orchestra, she accompanied important classical music soloists such as Mischa MAISKY, Yuja WANG, and Lahav SHANI. In 2021, she was awarded a scholarship to participate in the Global Musician Workshop of the Silkroad project founded by Yo-Yo MA. Derya Kirac Sabzehzar completed her artistic proficiency studies with Professor Dr. Ozan Evrim TUNCA at the State Conservatory of Anadolu University in 2021 and graduated. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the Music and Performing Arts Faculty of Pamukkale University.
